Ca Cai (Chinese Mixed Veggies)

Cap Cai

Artikel dalam Bahasa Indonesia, klik di sini :)

This is my favorite dish to cook in daily basis. It’s simple, easy, almost fail-proof, and fast. Not only we can have vary veggies in one plate, but also protein also. So, this one this only should be enough to fulfill our nutrition. And.. have i mentioned that it is very simple to make ? (yes, i have) In fact, this is one of first dish i manage to cook by my self ^^

So.. let’s start ^^

Ingredients:
sawi-putih 1/2 tuber White Chinese Cabbage sawi-pakchoy 1/2 tuber Chinese Cabbage (Pak Choy)
carrot 2 Carrot chicken-whole 250 gr Chicken Breast, diced
bakwan 6 Meatball crabstick 4 Crabstick
corn 100 gr Sweet Corn (boiled) egg 2 Egg
garlic 2 cloves Garlic  ginger 1.5 cm Ginger
water 2 cups Water salt n pepper Salt & Pepper to taste
oil-veggie 4-5 tbs Cooking Oil (for saute) oil-sesame 1 tsp Sesame Oil
flour-tapioca 1 tbs Tapioca

You can customize the filling as you like. Change the Pak Choy with broccoli, add mushrooms, Shrimp, etc. In fact, i use sweet corn because i don’t have baby corn. So.. mix whatever you feel fit with the chinese taste. Ooh.. and the measurement of the filling doesn’t haven’t have to be exact. But not with the seasoning.

Steps:
  1. Cut carrot diagonally into oval shape. Tear free cabbages leafs from their tubers, and cut into rectangle (or whatever you like). Cut into 4 meatballs, dice chicken breast and crab sticks.
  2. Chop nicely garlic and ginger.
  3. Break Eggs and mix a bit. Put a tiny salt in. Heat the wok and scramble the eggs. Set a side
  4. On high heat, pour cooking oil into the wok. Saute garlic until smell nicely. Add ginger.
  5. Put in chicken dices and meatballs. Saute them for 10-15 seconds.
  6. Add carrot, boiled sweet corn, white and Chinese cabbages. Stir for a seconds then pour in water until all ingredients are covered (so depends on how much filling you have, measurement above may not be enough).
  7. Let the crab sticks and scrambled egg join them. Cover with lid until boiled.
  8. Season with salt and pepper, a bit of sugar if you like it sweet. Bring it to boil once again. (It is a tip from my mom, that after we do seasoning, we must bring it boil/cook one more time).
  9. Mix tapioca with 3 tablespoons of water. Pour it into the dish to thicken it. Stir until the dish becomes thick.
  10. Finalize it with sesame oil then lift it up from heat.

Hope you enjoy this recipe ^^

Update : Here is another picture of Ca Cai Rice i made. For the rice, simply saute it with garlic (about a clove for 4 portions of rice) and add soy sauce. Then put the ca cai on top ^^

Cap Cai

Yuk, mulai masak ^^

Bahan:
sawi-putih 1/2 bonggol Sawi Putih sawi-pakchoy 1/2 bonggol Pak Choy
carrot 2 Wortel chicken-whole 250 gr Dada Ayam
bakwan 6 Bakso crabstick 4 Kepiting Imitasi (Crabstick)
corn 100 gr Jagung Manis rebus egg 2 Telur
garlic 2 siung Bawang Putih  ginger 1.5 cm Jahe
water 2 gelas Air salt n pepper Garam Merica sesuai kebutuhan
oil-veggie 4-5 sdm Minyak Goreng oil-sesame 1 tsp Minyak Wijen
flour-tapioca 1 tbs Tapioka

  2. Rajang halus bawang putih dan jahe.
  3. Pecah dan kocok telur. Tambahkan sedikit garam. Panaskan wajan dan bikin telur orak arik. Sisihkan.
  4. Dengan api besar, panaskan minyak. Tumis bawang putih hingga harum, tambahkan jahe.
  5. Masukkan potongan ayam dan bakso. Tumis 10-15 detik.
  6. Tambahkan wortel, jagung rebus, sawi putih dan pak choy. Tumis sebentar kemudian masukkan air hingga menutupi semua bahan. Jika bahanmu banyak, maka ukuran air di atas mungkin kurang.
  7. Masukkan kepiting imatasi dan telur orak arik. Tutup dan biarkan mendidih.
  8. Bumbui dengan garam dan merica. Bisa diberi sedikit gula jika suka agak manis. Didihkan sekali lagi.
